I was tempted to rename this article ‘Five Reasons to be Cheerless as Aston Villa Fans’ after the Watford result. Then I wasn’t going to bother with it, due to the depression of thinking about Aston Villa’s current plight and how we’ve been led into this by the club’s custodians. However, we’ve never missed a Five Reasons since MOMS has been going, so here it is, a little later than normal.
5. FORWARD HOPE
Rémi Garde seems to be putting his money on Jordan Ayew as the striker to fire Villa out of the quick sand of the relegation zone. While I’ve already worked out his ‘Ashley Young’ trick of cutting in on his right-hand side, most Premier League defenders still haven’t yet, which is a good thing.
Despite his efforts and energy, Villa would certainly benefit from having a proper finisher alongside Ayew though and I don’t currently see that in the Villa team. We need to get some kind of partnership asap to have the option of playing two up front to fire us out of this mess.
