Unai Emery Seeks to Match Winning Expectation
When is a new manager bounce not a new manager bounce? For Unai Emery, probably if Aston Villa beat Leicester City at Villa Park. After an impressive start of five wins in seven league games, as the Villa boss himself called for, it’s time for consistency that will hopefully showcase the progress he has made over a larger timespan.
Taking care of business against teams below them in the Premier League table has been an achilles heal of Villa’s in recent seasons. It’s checked their potential progress and had them running to a standstill in terms of any upward progress. To follow hard-fought recent wins against Leeds United and Southampton, by beating the Foxes at Villa Park, will create a notable run of three victories to show Emery has really got things motoring in the right direction.
In the latest Something for the Weekend episode of the My Old Man Said podcast (only 20 minutes, so a quick cram before the game!), we look ahead to the Leicester game and look at a couple of wingers – the returning Bertrand Traore and the former Villan & Fox, Marc Albrighton.
