Sky February Changes
That dreaded time has come again when you have to potentially shift your work plans and travel plans, after you thought you had your football plans all worked out. Sky have announced the latest games for TV during February and two Aston Villa matches – both away games – have been moved.
First up is the February 4th trip to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest, although considering that it’s a short trip across the Midlands, moving to a 17.30 kick-off time isn’t that much of an inconvenience.
Speaking of which, the second fixture change is far from ideal with Saturday February 18th’s trip to St James Park to face top of the table Newcastle, being switched to the following Monday night.
Sky February Villa Fixtures
Sat 4th February – Nottingham Forest (a) 17.30
Mon 20th February – Newcastle United (a) 20.00
Considering the hike up to Newcastle, it’s certainly one that will leave supporters with work committments frustrated.
More importantly though, is it even possible to get a train or coach from Newcastle after the game? Some fans have reported the last ones out of Newcastle to Birmingham leave before the kick-off time.
The original fixture always had a chance of moving if either Newcastle or Villa progressed to the 5th round of the FA Cup, although both teams face tricky away ties in the third round. Villa are away to Spurs, while Newcastle come to Birmingham to face the Blues.
In terms of the Newcastle, at least there is over two months notice. Is that enough? What do you think? Should they have taken into account the returning travel plans of away fans when they make these TV switches?
