Tim Sherwood Eyes Up Another Decent Forward Option For Villa

With Villa not even reaching a positive net spend for transfers in the summer window yet, it’s obvious Villa boss Tim Sherwood still has room to bring in one or two more new faces to the squad.

Players like Charlie Austen and Emmanuel Adebayor are likely to have their futures decided towards the very end of the transfer window. In the case of Adebayor, if the player is interested, then any Mexican stand-off between the clubs would probably be decided on the last day. Meanwhile, while several other transfer rumours rumble on, Villa are expecting an incoming player for certain in the next day or two.

Adama Traore Aston Villa Bound?

It was expected that the young Barcelona winger Adama Traore was also one to maybe have his future decided later after a mooted move to Stoke City seemed to have fallen through. Despite visiting the club, no deal was completed with the 19-year-old and it seems Mark Hughes plumped for Xherdan Shaqiri instead.

Hughes described the Swiss international as “a dynamic and explosive player who will bring something different”. The same can be said of Traore who now according to press reports is heading to Villa for a medical tomorrow in view of a £7 million transfer (it seems newspapers like the Daily Mail quoting fees of £12m have fallen for the old Euro price tag trick and just changed it to a ‘£’ sign).

Initially, was suggested that the Barcelona player would just be making a loan move, which seemed logical considering his age, but there is a lot of talk about a buy back clause being inserted in a three-year transfer deal.

Traore will certainly bring a little extra oomph to Villa going forward with his pace and power, however he remains a raw talent, prone to run into traffic instead of playing the simpler ball. His end product is questionable, but he is only still 19-years-old and certainly he could start off as an interesting impact option from the bench.

The likes of Liverpool, Everton and Southampton have also had a sniff, although Villa seemed to have taken pole position off Stoke for Traore’s signature with talk of the transfer being concluded with the next 24 hours or so.
