Tammy Abraham Loan to Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town are working on a loan deal for Tammy Abraham, according to the Ipswich Star, with talks understood to be progressing over a straight loan for the 28-year-old.
Aston Villa have made no secret of the fact that Abraham is available this summer, despite only signing him at the start of the year. With Brian Madjo emerging and Villa’s purchase of Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, Abraham’s opportunities look limited once he returns from injury.
Villa supporters’ fondness for Abraham is pinned to his loan spell from Chelsea during the 2018/19 promotion season, when he scored 26 goals in 40 Championship appearances and played a headline role in getting Villa back to the Premier League via a Wembley play-off.
This stint has been nothing like it. He joined for a reported £18m from Beşiktaş in January as Europa League cover for Ollie Watkins, and made only two Premier League starts and 10 appearances from the bench (282 minutes in total, barely three games’ worth), plus one Europa League start and two more from the bench (95 minutes).
Still, Abraham would bring Ipswich useful know-how up front, arriving to bolster a frontline built around club-record signing Emersonn, who at 22 is described by manager Gary O’Neil as a “project”. The Tractor Boys will hope he can rediscover something like the form that brought 15 Premier League goals for Chelsea in 2019/20, and 17 league goals for Roma in 2021/22.

Rafael Leão Funding?
One advantage of moving on Abraham is that Villa would be freeing up wage spend to redirect toward a potential move for AC Milan’s Rafael Leão, for whom they are reportedly locked in a tussle with Galatasaray. Leão is thought to prefer a move to the Premier League, but the question remains whether Milan will accept how Villa want to structure a deal compared with Galatasaray’s more upfront fee approach.
