The Preseason Villa Injury Situation is Clearing Up
Having had a listless start to their preseason with four draws and a defeat against lesser opposition, Aston Villa finally decided to get the 2013/14 party started by blitzing Crewe 5-1 at the Alexandra Stadium.
In a nutshell, the notable features of the game were: a 1,700+ away support, a Benteke hat-trick, and a Bacuna rocket.
Better still was the news that the frustrating amount of knocks and niggles to Villa players have picked up, looks to be coming to an end.
The Villa injury list has especially hampered the integration of the new signings. After shining on the German tour, Nicklas Helenius was laid low for the first two preseason games back in England, before returning against Crewe.
Next to return, will be Jores Okore and Aleksandar Tonev, who were also both injured in Germany, with Lambert citing in an interview after the Crewe game, that he expects the duo to return to action against Shamrock Rovers on Villa’s brief Irish tour, next week.
Perhaps the most important return will be that of Okore. With Villa still leaking goals from corners, the more game time Okore gets before the season kicks off, the better.
With that in mind, it seems Villa’s preseason has finally begun in earnest. UTV

It was a great night and support was awesome yet again. Nice to see a strong side out from the start and the football was neat and precise. Spot on with Okore too, he really needs to get settled in now over the next three weeks. can’t wait for Malaga at VP then the emirates for the real deal ! UTV
First respect! Expertise as well as opinion on here! So what about Gary Gardener? Clearly very talented. Was part of the hope for the future. Not much comment since returning?
Tamerdvillan he just needs to get his head back into playing regular and remove the doubt of his injuries from his mind. He’ll be back fighting for a place no doubt, he has what it takes.
