Aston Villa’s Opening Fixtures Moved for Live TV Coverage

Aston Villa’s First Fixture Changes of 2026/27

The Arsenal, Hull City and Tottenham games are all rescheduled, meaning Villa’s first three Premier League matches of 2026/27 will be shown live.

Three of Aston Villa’s Premier League fixtures in August and September have been moved for live television broadcast, marking the first changes to dates in the diaries of match-going fans.

The pick of them is the first home game of the season, against Arsenal. Originally set for Saturday 29 August, it now moves two days later to Monday 31 August, kicking off at 8pm live on Sky Sports.

Five days after that, Villa travel to Hull City. The game at the MKM Stadium, first pencilled in for a Saturday-afternoon slot, has been pushed back two and a half hours to 5.30pm on Saturday 5 September, again live on Sky.

The third change comes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 19 September, where kick-off has been brought forward to 12.30pm for live coverage on TNT Sports. It is Villa’s last match before the extended international break, and it lands after they have opened both their Champions League and Carabao Cup campaigns, so a lunchtime start on the back of a demanding week is not the kindest hand the schedulers could have dealt.

The changes follow confirmation that Villa’s opening fixture of 2026/27, away at Brighton & Hove Albion, will be played at 2pm on Sunday 23 August, live on Sky Sports.

Taken together, it means Villa’s first three Premier League matches of the season, and four of their opening five, will be broadcast live. A fair reflection of where the club now sits in the television schedulers’ order of priority, even if it does the early-season travelling Villa supporter few favours.
