Saturday Live
After trying to pull off the multi-tasking feat of watching and listening to both the simultaneous live streams of Villa’s mid-week friendlies against Telford and Kidderminster friendlies, comes a more traditional task.
Watching a Saturday 3pm kick-off vs Shrewsbury Town.
For those not going to the game itself, you’ll be able to catch the match live via a youtube stream, embedded below.
Shrew History
The last time Villa played Shrewsbury competitively was when we were last in the second tier of the English league in the 1987/88 season. Villa managed to do the double over the Shrews then, beating them 2-1 at the then Gay Meadow and 1-0 at Villa Park.
One of the reasons Villa found themselves relegated back then, was the appointment of Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner back in 1984.
At the time, Turner was a young and upcoming manager, who was regarded as one of the brightest in the game, but he quickened the fall from grace of a team that had been European Champions a couple of seasons before he took over.
Turner was sacked in September 1986, as Villa started poorly in what turned out to be a relegation season.
