Aston Villa Fixtures 2026/27
Aston Villa’s 2026/27 Premier League fixtures have been released today, with the season kicking off on 23rd August — a late start that reflects the World Cup summer.
The Opener
Villa begin the season away at Brighton & Hove Albion, a fixture that did not happen by accident. The club lobbied the Premier League a couple of years ago to request an away opening game in consideration of North Stand renovation work. Of all the away days to draw, a trip to the south coast in late August is about as good as it gets.
Which makes it all the more pointed, considering that Villa’s trip to Bournemouth has been handed a 2nd January slot, in the depths of winter.
First Home Game
Arsenal visit Villa Park on 29th August, the same fixture that opened the home account a couple of seasons ago. On that occasion, the evening was accompanied by overflowing urinals seeping onto the Holte End concourses. Improvements to the matchday infrastructure in the interim mean that particular welcome should not be repeated. Hopefully.
How Difficult Is the Start?
Opta rates Villa’s opening five fixtures — Brighton (A), Arsenal (H), Hull City (A), Nottingham Forest (H), Tottenham Hotspur (A) — as the 11th most difficult in the Premier League. For context, last season Opta deemed Villa’s opening five the easiest in the division. They failed to win any of them.
Make of that what you will.

Christmas Home Comforts
After a double away date over Christmas last season, Villa have back-to-back home games this time — Leeds on 26th December and Liverpool on 30th. A marked improvement.
The Run-In
Newcastle United (H), Manchester City (A) and Tottenham Hotspur (H) is a demanding way to close the campaign. That said, Villa ended last season with Liverpool (H), the Europa League final, and Manchester City (H) — and picked up six points from the two league games while lifting a trophy in the middle of it. Perspective applies.
