London Villans
Outside of the West Midlands area the greatest concentration of My Old Man Said readers are based in London, so MOMS thought it would be a good idea to point out an excellent place for all London-based Villans to watch games with fellow fans, if they can’t make it to Villa Park.
Organised by the Aston Villa London Lions Network, London Villans meet at the The Six Yard Box bar in Elephant and Castle. The football theme bar born in January 2015 and has the novelty of being housed in a freight container.
MOMS has checked it out and loves the football themed bar, which is decked in wall to wall Shoot Magazine posters, football memorabilia and Panini stickers (including Olof Mellberg!). Located in the Artworks Box Park in Elephant and Castle, just around the corner from the tube station, the bar is the official pub for the Aston Villa London Lions.
Any time Villa games are on live TV expect them to be screened at the Six Yard Box. If you want to eat and drink while watching the game, whilst the bar doesn’t sell food, they are very happy for you to bring your own or are happy to order for you from one of the many street food containers in the Artworks development.
Special Events
The Aston Villa London Lions Network will have a special Christmas Social on December 8th (from 7pm, match starts 7.30pm) that will re-live the infamous European night at Villa Park when Ron Atkinson’s men came from behind on aggregate to beat Inter Milan in an epic UEFA Cup tie during the 1994-95 season. They’ll certainly be a few glasses raised to Phil King’s penalty. More details on Xmas Inter meet.
