Villa Reality Check: Meltdowns & Black Cats

Lazy Villa Meltdowns

The weekend’s trip to the Stadium of Light provided plenty for Villa fans to chew over. After the 1-1 draw, Unai Emery, quite rightly labeled his players “lazy”, highlighted by the lack of intent on Sunderland’s equaliser, as the Black Cats earned a draw despite being down to 10-men from the first half.

After five league games, there’s been a bit of a meltdown in some quarters, but as we discussed before the game on the Something for the Weekend edition of the My Old Man Said podcast, Emery has a lot of credit in the bank and deserves time to sort out the apparent mess that extends from his tactical set-up to the players’ intent and energy.

The deadline day signings are still fresh to the fold and certain results in isolation are no big deal; certainly the couple of away draws and the 10-men draw against Newcastle.

If anybody wants to talk about a ‘crisis’ lets wait until the upcoming two consecutive home games in the Premier League against Fulham and Burnley, plus, the opening two Europa League games play, to see the bigger picture.

With the post-match Sunderland show due in the next 24 hours, below is still relevant discussion about some fan’s premature mini meltdown.
