Gerrard Hints a Changes Against Spurs

Steven Gerrard provided a positive injury update ahead of this weekend’s Spurs clash, having had some fresh concerns after the defeat to Wolves last week.
Both Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia finished the game at Molineux with knocks, but they both seemed to have cleared up their problems.
“Buendia had a slight injury after Wolves,” admitted Gerrard, reassuring fans that “he trained today and assuming there’s no reaction, he’ll be available.”
The gaffer also confirmed that the Villa skipper, Mings, will be able to play despite his niggle.
“Tyrone trained yesterday so he’s available,” he said.
The main takeaway from Gerrard’s press conference however was the good news on the return of Marvelous Nakamba. The defensive midfielder had impressed at the start of Gerrard’s managerial reign at Villa and seemed to bring genuine balance to the midfield.
Gerrard claimed that after a solid performance for the U23s, the midfielder’s reintroduction could be imminent.
“He had 60 minutes in the U-23’s last week and he had another strong week, so he’ll come into the squad,” said Gerrard.
“I’m extremely happy to have Marv back. When we came into this job, we had a bounce and found consistency, and Marv was a really big part of that.”
Gerrard continued his praise, adding:
“He’s been missed and this week we have pushed him, he’s an important player so when we get him ready for 90 minutes, he’ll be a big help to the team.”
Against Spurs, Villa will hope to improve on their lacklustre performances against both Arsenal and Wolves to hopefully break their three-game losing run. Gerrard promises he is “likely to make some changes.”
