FA Cup Time
Surely it’s time for Aston Villa to win the FA Cup? It’s something Villa fans have often mused in recent seasons, since the last time was 1957 and it’s the only trophy that fans of a certain age haven’t witnessed Villa lifting.
In the context of this season and what kind of role new loan signing Philippe Coutinho could play, a victory at Old Trafford in the FA Cup third round, to match the one in the league, earlier in the season, would certainly recalibrate Villa’s season and expectations.
Can Steven Gerrard bring Villa some extra edge against his old foe from his Liverpool days? Will it influence him to put out a strong team against Manchester United? Can Villa become the only team in English football to beat United twice at Old Trafford on two occasions?
In the latest episode of ‘Something for the Weekend’ on the My Old Man Said podcast, we look at the ramifications of the Philippe Coutinho loan signing from Barcelona and how a win over United, may help the Brazilian attacking-midfielder to really ignite Villa’s season in 2022.
