Louie Barry Extends Aston Villa Contract
Aston Villa have taken up the option of extending their academy jewel Louie Barry’s contract until 2024. The forward is currently the most exciting Villa youth prospect considering Villa got him from Barcelona’s La Masia academy, where he was the first ever English player to join.
Last season, Barry, 18, scored on his senior Villa debut in the FA Cup third round against Liverpool and went on to finish last season with 20 goals in all competitions. Five of those goals came in the FA Youth Cup triumph, which Villa won for the first time since 2002.
Scorer of the decisive goal in the FA Youth Cup final against Liverpool, Brad Young, has also signed a new deal, and the striker will be hoping to match his 21 goal haul this season, unless he goes out on loan.
Also signing a new deal is midfielder Arjan Raikhy, who was also key to Villa’s FA Youth Cup win and played against Liverpool in the FA Cup.
Hayden Lindley, Filip Marschall and Chisom Afoka have also all signed new deals, while Under-18 player Patrick Zito has penned a short-term contract.
