Aston Villa’s Updated Europa Conference League Squad
Aston Villa had until Friday, February 2, last week, to submit a maximum of three new eligible players for the knockout stages of this season’s Europa Conference League. The deadline was the day after the January transfer window closed shut, to allow any deadline buys to make it.
interestingly, Calum Chambers, who featured in the group stages of the tournament, didn’t make the cut. Whether that was down to there being an expectation of him leaving during the transfer window, is certainly a possibility. After all, Villa could submit 25 players on the main list A (which has eight places reserved for locally trained players), but have settled on 22 players, as per the UEFA listing.
Villa then have additional youth players on a second list B, where they can submit an unlimited number of players, who have to be born after 1 January 2002 and have been eligible to play for the club for a minimum of two years without interruption.
New Squad Additions
Two new Villa signings Morgan Rogers and Joe Gauci have been added to Villa’s A list, with Tim Iroegbunam, also included after being out injured. Both Leander Dendoncker and Bertrand Traore have been removed, after their departures from the club.
