Aston Villa Striker’s Failed Audition and Tour Reflections

Cameron Archer Set to Leave Again?

After Aston Villa return back from their US tour, Unai Emery had plenty of food for thought. Cameron Archer certainly had something of an audition for the Villa boss in the final game against Club America. It wasn’t looking good. Despite netting a late winner against Athletic Club Bilbao, when he came on as a sub, he again missed opportunities against Borussia Dortmund. All in, Archer has perhaps failed to impress Emery enough and it’s no surprise that he looks to be heading out to Southampton for a reported £15m fee.

Will the fee help bring in a much-needed additional option up front that will be viewed as necessary, considering the Champions League and Premier League campaign ahead.

In this episode of the My Old Man Said podcast we also look back at the US tour, as well as catching up on all other Villa news.
