Aston Villa Provide Ambiguous Update on Injured Quartet

Aston Villa Injury List for Manchester United

If there’s one factor that makes Aston Villa’s current unbeaten 10-game run under Unai Emery even more spectacular, it is the fact that they have done it with a depleted squad. The past few games have seen the Villa boss sticking to a regular first XI without much scope to rotate or freshen things up, in a month that has served up seven league games.

The likes of the injured Matty Cash, Leon Bailey, Boubacar Kamara and Philippe Coutinho would have all seen game time and even starts in the April period, but the extent of their injuries have been increasingly clouded with strange ambiguous updates.

Unlike previous injury updates, the club has been vague in recent weeks about the specifics of each player’s injury. They’ve used generic phrases like “close to making a return from injury,” “closing in on a return,” and “progressing well” without giving any indication of whether players are back in training or if one player is more likely to return than another. However, based on the below tweet from the club, it’s possible to infer that Cash will be the first player to return, with Bailey close behind him.

All four though will unfortunately miss the trip to Old Trafford, when their presence would have been useful for such a tough game. Hopefully, we’ll see one or two back for the Wolves game, the following week.

Villa are certainly one injury away from having their Europa League charge disrupted, if anything happened to the likes of Watkins, Martinez, Luiz, Mings or McGinn.

With just four games left after the United clash, hopefully Emery will have a bigger squad to chose from when it comes to Villa’s final May fixtures.
