Aston Villa Eye European Away Preseason Friendly

MOMS has learnt from the recent Aston Villa Fan Advisory Board meeting that the club are lining up a big away European friendly ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season. The fixture is expected to be the weekend before the Premier League kicks-off on August 12th, following Aston Villa’s tour of the USA in the summer.

It’s understood that Unai Emery wants a stiff test to get Villa battle ready for the new Premier League start, after their training camp in the USA.

Details should be forthcoming relatively soon, once everything is locked in, to give fans wishing to go, a chance to plan for it.

If the opposition is a ‘big’ name, then hopefully it would present a chance for supporters to visit a decent European stadium. Considering the Villa Head Coach’s nationality, a top six Spanish team could perhaps be the most likely opponent?

USA Preseason Camp

The focus of Villa’s preparations for next season though will be in the USA. While they will be stateside on the Premier League’s dime, as part of the Premier League Summer Series USA Tour, the club will essentially be running their preseason training camp there.

Villa will be based in the DC area during their stay in the states, flying out to Philadelphia and Orlando for friendlies, before their closing match in Landover, Maryland, closer to their training camp. Tickets for the Premier League Summer Series USA Tour go on general sale on April 26th.
