John McGinn Impressing as Villa Ready Themselves for Bigger Tests
Things are about to move up a gear for Aston Villa. It’s now 13 consecutive Premier League home wins for Aston Villa, as their performance level lifted up from the past couple of weeks, when Unai Emery’s team saw off a determined Fulham team in impressive style at Villa Park.
The expectation after the international break will grow, when Villa’s season moves up a gear. Currently, three points off the top of the league, they are due to play three of the top four sides, giving them an opportunity to reshape the league table. First, they have an away trip to Spurs, who have lost their last couple of games, now they have picked up some injuries and suspensions. Then Villa have a double home header against Arsenal and Manchester City at Villa Park; few expect Villa’s current home record to survive that stress test, but they will seek to get some kind of points return to keep them game in the top five.
