The revolving door at Bodymoor Heath is swinging fast and releasing players mostly in an outward direction it seems, with the club today confirming that Jan Bednarek has returned to Southampton, after having his loan period cut short.
Villa put out a statement claiming that the Saints had recalled the player, which was always going to be the angle from a PR point of view, in the interest of both the player and his original club (not to damage the player’s cache).
Aston Villa’s Bednarek statement
Aston Villa can confirm the Club have agreed to Southampton’s request to recall Jan Bednarek this month.
The Poland international will return to St Mary’s having joined Villa on loan in the summer, going on to make four appearances in claret and blue.
Everyone at Aston Villa would like to thank Jan for his service and wish him all the best in his future career.
Villa Outgoings
Within just the last week, Villa have let go of Danny Ings (West Ham), Indiana Vassilev (St. Louis City SC), Frederic Guilbert (RC Strasbourg), and Morgan Sanson (a loan move to RC Strasbourg to be announced soon). With further outs expected, Villa supporters will hope the likes of John McGinn and Lucas Digne will return to full fitness soon, as Villa had to pick two goalkeepers on the bench at Southampton to make up the numbers.
