All Aboard the Unai Emery European Express

It’s been a fulfilling last few weeks of progress for Unai Emery and his players. Aston Villa’s six-game unbeaten run of five wins and a draw, is only matched by the Premier League’s top two. But when you look at the road ahead to the end of the season, it looks like the warm-up to the main event. As we’ve discussed already, Villa’s run-in is statistically the hardest of all the Premier League teams.

Since Villa are done playing the Premier League’s top two in Arsenal and Manchester City – perhaps the only outstanding teams across the season so far – they’ll now feel, they can take points off any other team in the division. In short, there’s nothing to fear.

Emery has successfully navigated Villa to their current position, very much by taking each game at a time, without publicly expressing any overarching ambition until recent weeks.
