Al Hilal have had four bids turned down, Unai Emery has publicly acknowledged the interest, and MOMS’ own reporting picked up a Birmingham Airport sighting that lines up with an overnight flight to Dubai, the kind of trip a move of this size tends to need before it’s finalised.
Away from the transfer window, Thursday brings the Champions League league-phase draw in Monaco, Villa’s second appearance in the competition in three seasons. The play-off round is still being decided, with Celtic, Fenerbahçe, Lyon and Bodø/Glimt among the sides who could yet join the pot.
Then there’s the new away shirt. The new Adidas away kit carries a stripped-back lion crest with no badge border, even more minimalist than the design that missed out on the final vote when a new Villa crest was sought four years ago in the crest consultation.
